20 penalized for selling tobacco products in school area in Mon

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The enforcement squad under the National Tobacco Control Programme Mon during carried out an enforcement drive in and around educational institutions in Mon town on May 24. 

During the drive, the enforcement squad seized a massive amount of tobacco products and were destroyed at the dumping area. A DIPR report stated that the raid was conducted to strength COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003 in the district and to ensure that no shops sell tobacco products near educational institutions. 

As per Section 6(b) of COTPA 2003, selling any kind of tobacco products within 100 yards of school area is strictly prohibited. A total number of 20 defaulters were penalized under COTPA Sec (b).
