Kohima, June 17 (MExN): A plantation drive was organized by Kohima Forest Division in collaboration with the district administration, Tseminyu Town Youth (TTY), and Tseminyu Students’ Union (TSU) in Tseminyu on June 15.
Around 2000 numbers of fruiting and flowering species were distributed and planted in selected sites of Tseminyu Town, said a press release. The saplings were sourced from Tseminyu Range Nursery. It was informed that around 12,000 saplings have been distributed in the last two months.
During the plantation programme, DFO Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen (IFS) highlighted the importance of proper and judicious maintenance of the plantation and also thanked the Tseminyu Town Youth and Tseminyu Students’ Union for their active participation. She also appreciated the district administration for their cooperation in successful implementation of the programme.
EAC Tseminyu, Kevi in his speech thanked the Forest department for organizing the plantation drive. Every citizen, he emphasized, should take responsibility in proper safeguarding of the plantations.
The saplings were planted in the ADC office complex, ADC residence area, areas near SDO office, PWD office, SDEO office, SBI area, Treasury, NST colony, Rest House and Forest colony.
