20th NSF Martyr's Memorial Trophy from Sept 21

The prestigious 20th Naga Students' Federation (NSF) Martyr's Memorial Trophy 2019 under the aegis of Angami Students Union (ASU) will begin from September 21 and continue till October 19 at Khuochiezie, Kohima Local Ground.

 

ASU president Vizokho Zashümo told the press conference that the champion will walk home a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh along with trophy and citations while runner- up will get Rs. 1.20 lakh along with trophy and citations.

 

Semifinalists will get Rs. 30,000 each and quarter finalists will receive Rs. 15,000 each.

 

The tournament will also feature individual awards like; player of the tournament, best custodian, best defender, best midfielder, highest scorer.

 

Player of the tournament will receive a Two-wheeler (motorbike) along with citations.

 

Other individual winners will receive Rs 10,000 each along with citations.

 

Plastic free tournament

The 20th edition will be plastic free tournament wherein ASU will collaborate with Kohima Municipal Council  and Kohima Smart City Development Limited for strict adherence.

 

In this, the Union requested the spectators to bring their own water bottle.

 

Water dispensers will be provided at different locations for common use.

 

Further, in collaboration with forest department, ASU will use tree saplings instead of mementos for the guests to propagate environment conservation under the theme “Plant for life.”

 

Expecting teams from Manipur

Western Angami Students Union (WASU) will look after ground management.

ASU is expecting teams from Manipur in this 20th edition.

ASU is also keep in touch with AIFF license referees to conduct the tournament.

Gallery ticket has been fixed at Rs. 30 till knockout stage and Rs. 50 from quarterfinal matches.

ASU informed that students in their school uniform and senior citizens will get free pass.

Meanwhile, interested teams or clubs have been informed to collect entry forms from Sports Paradise, Kezieke Kohima, ASU Office Headquarter below AIR station, NSF office, Oking Naga club building and Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation Office, Chümoukedima.

Last date for submission of entry form is September 17.

 

About the tournament

The month long tournament is organised in respect and honour of two martyrs’ Late Kekuojalie Sachii of Kohima village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshii of Kigwema Village who were the victims in the indiscriminate firing of the Nagaland Armed Police from Alichen on 20th March, 1986 during a peaceful rally called by Naga Students’ Federation to protest against the State Government’s decision on the Extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 KM – 20 KM along the Indo-Myanmar border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre into the state of Nagaland.
