Centurion FC to face Poimi SU in inaugural match

A month long soccer tournament of 20th NSF Martyr's Memorial Trophy 2019 with the theme “Goal for peace” under the aegis of Angami Students’ Union (ASU) will kick start on September 21 at Khuochiezie, Kohima Local Ground at 1:00 PM.


Altogether, 37 teams including one team from Manipur will vie for the coveted champion title, which will conclude on October 19.


Nagaland’s youth resources & sports advisor Er. Zale Neikha will grace the opening ceremony.


The inaugural function will be chaired by ASU tribunal general Aja Zinyü while keynote address will be delivered by ASU president Vizokho Zashümo.


Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president Ninoto Awomi will share solidarity message.


ASU secretary for games & sports Kevisetuo Sechü will administer oath to the participating teams.


The players of the inaugural match between Centurion FC to face Poimi SU, will be escorted by students of Vineyard School and Jo Foundation School Kohima.


ASU informed that entry for the inaugural function will be free.


The tournament is organised in respect and honour of two martyrs’ Late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema Village who were the victims in the indiscriminate firing of the Nagaland Armed Police from Alichen on 20th March, 1986 during a peaceful rally called by Naga Students’ Federation to protest against the State Government’s decision on the Extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 KM – 20 KM along the Indo-Myanmar border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre into the state of Nagaland.
