The 20th conference of Ongpangkong Arogo Tenzuker Telongjem (OATT) or Ongpangkong Church Leaders' Association got underway at Yimyu Baptist Church here this evening. The conference, which is being held on the theme 'Arogo inyakyim aser liashiba (the Bible and the church working system), is being attended by 183 delegates from 27 churches.
On the first night, the main speaker Rev. Dr. Noklen Longkumer, pastor of Ungma Baptist Church, spoke on a topic regarding the role of a Christian during election time.
He enlightened the delegates on the role of a believer while choosing a leader. He said that a believer should not be tempted by the lure of money during election, not be confused by political rumors, be steadfast in one’s faith, and be such a believer who can exercise his/her franchise.
“Your one precious vote will determine the fate of Nagaland’s future,” Rev. Noklen told the gathering, adding all the corrupt practices a believer indulge in during election time is known and seen by God. Therefore, he encouraged the congregation to pray to God for strength so that one can be astute and be truthful during the coming election.
Earlier, the Deacon of Yimyu Baptist Arogo, Zulu welcomed the delegates while Rev C Temjen and OKM president, R Sunep Pongen exhorted the congregation.
Yimyu Baptist Church choir and Longsa Baptist Church presented special numbers at the programme. The conference will culminate on March 3, 2017.
