21st batch Home Guards passes out

Altogether 217 trainees of Home Guard Volunteers passed out on the occasion of Home Guards & Civil Defence (HG&CD) Raising Day cum Passing out Parade held at Central Training Institute, Toluvi, Dimapur on Wednesday.  

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Parliamentary Secretary for HG&CD, Namri Nchang noted that the role of the department and its employees assumed huge significance since disaster of any kind required highest level of preparedness. Lauding the officers and volunteers for exhibiting their best to meet the call of duty, Namri informed that the Government of India was taking up measures to initiate and enhance techniques to improve and equip the NDRF/SDRF in order to be in a state of readiness for any eventuality. He said although Nagaland has not experienced mass destruction on a large scale, it, however, did not permit the Department to be complacent. “Several line departments along with administration and police have to focus on co-ordinate approach and be prepared to meet any type of calamity,” he urged.  

Namri said the preparedness programme should be able to achieve results during times of crisis and called for alertness at all times. He called upon the officers and volunteers to be true to their motto of “Service before Self” and rise to the occasion and be prepared to the call of duty.  

Presenting a brief training report, Commandant, CTI Dimapur, Dally Jamir said that the volunteers during their 60 days training period were imparted classes on drill, weapon handling, static guard duties, traffic and crowd control, disaster management etc.  

Earlier, Director General HG&CD, L. Singsit, IPS reviewed the parade while the chief guest took salute from the passing out contingents.
