The 21st installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Kohima took place on July 21 at Hotel Japfu with Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Shanavas C as the guest of honour.
The new team of Rotary Club of Kohima for the year 2023-2024 will now be headed by Kevilenuo Solo.
In his address, Shanavas C said that the mantra of peace has to prevail. “With collective efforts we will make a good team and can achieve a lot,” the DC stated. He lauded the RCK for their notable services for the betterment of the community and urged upon them to continue to carry the good works.
The DC was also installed as honorary member of RCK along with other five new members.
Outgoing president, Rosemary Dzuvichu said that the Club have been helping and reaching out the communities in different ways.
Stating that Rotary Club Kohima has been doing all kinds of social services, she wished the new team to do the best services for the welfare and uplift of the community.
The club annual report (2022-23) was presented by Kevilenuo. Among the many activities, the Club has extended free tailoring units at Kohima village wherein 18 women including widows and young women (mostly dropouts) completed the training. Training of the second batch is also underway.
The Club also organized plantation drive with students during World Environment Day. It had sponsored 5 piggery units for five widows as startup for their livelihood, assisted selected beneficiaries to start poultry and organic farming, conducted nation builders’ award where 8 notable teachers were awarded last year from various districts.
In her acceptance speech, Kevilenuo Solo, new president of Rotary Club of Kohima assured to work for the greater interest of the community basing on Rotary motto ‘Service above Self.’
