
Kohima, June 24 (MExN): The 21st Nagaland State Chess Championship will be held at the Nagaland Olympic Association Office Complex, Kohima from July 3 to 5.
The Nagaland Chess Association (NCA), under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation, will be organising the championship, which carries a total prize fund of Rs 1,01,000
The competitions are divided into three categories – Open, Under-14, and Under-10.
The Open Category has the highest prize money, with Rs 30,000 for first place, Rs 20,000 for second, and Rs 10,000 for third. Prizes will be awarded to the top ten players.
The Under-14 and Under-10 category prizes include Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 2,000, respectively.
Special prizes will be awarded to the best female participant and the best player below seven years, the NCA informed in a press statement.
The entry fee for the championship is Rs1000 for the Open Category and Rs 500 for the Under-14 and Under-10 categories.
The top four players will be selected from this championship to represent Nagaland State at the 62nd National Chess Championship, scheduled to be held from September 21 to October 1 in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh.
Announcing the championship and inviting participation, the NCA informed that all entry fees should be remitted to the Bank Account of the Nagaland Chess Association, Account Number: 38071290604, IFSC Code: SBIN0000214.
After remitting the entry fee, payment screenshots should be sent to Mengise Haikam, Joint Secretary, NCA, at 7005458265, it said.
The last date of entry is July 1, 5 PM.
As per the association, any rated or unrated player from Nagaland is eligible to participate in the championship. However, to participate, a player must be registered with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) for the year 2025–26, which can be done online through the AICF portal at https://prs.aicf.in/.
