DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The 21st Sports Meet of Patkai Higher Secondary School (PHSS), Chumukedima-Seithekima is underway. A press note stated that it began on February 22 at the PCC playground. The opening function was graced by Col. Neeraj Shukla, Commandant, 20 Assam Rifles as the chief guest who was accompanied by Major Harsh, Post Commander, 20 AR, Kuki Dolong.
The chief guest in his address emphasized on the significance of sports in a student’s life, the note stated while he encouraged the students by asserting that sports is not required only for physical and mental fitness but also for its vast scope in the field of military employment and admission to quality institutions. “… Certain percentage of quotas/seats are reserved for good sportsmen and women”, the note quoted the chief guest as stating. The chief guest also donated sports materials to the school.
The programme witnessed drill display and choreography from the primary section while the customary march past was conducted with support from the ‘band party’ of the AR. It was attended by the principal, Husazo Epao, the school’s board members, other dignitaries as well as the parents of the students, the note stated.
