
Liangmai FC to face Red Scars FC in grand finale today

Liangmai FC will face Red Scars FC in the grand finale of the 23rd edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2023 (Lt Kekuojalie Sachii & Lt Vikhozo Yhoshii) on October 14 at 4:30 pm at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Organized by Angami Students’ Union (ASU) under the theme “Goal for Peace” the tournament commenced on September 18. 34 teams joined the tournament and 32 matches have been played till October 13. Till semi finals, 148 goals have been scored out of which there were 13 individual hattrick.

K Neibou Sekhose, President, Nagaland Football Association will grace the grand finale as the special guest. Hikali Achumi, reigning Miss Nagaland will also present at the grand finale as “special appearance.”
The Champion of 23rd edition will fetch a cash prize of Rs 2.50 lakh along with citation and running trophy. The runner-up will receive Rs 1.5 lakh while losing semi finalists will receive Rs 35,000 each. Quarter finalists will receive Rs 20,000 each.
Player of the tournament will get a 2-wheeler scooty. The best defender, best goal keeper, best midfielder, highest scorer and best custodians will receive Rs 10,000 each.
This trophy is organised in honour of two comrades late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima village and late Vikhozo Yhoshii of Kigwema village who were victims to the indiscriminate firing of the armed police from Alichen when the students fraternity on the 22nd March 1986 were on a peaceful duty call to the extension of disturbed area belt from 5Km to 20Km along the Indo- Myanmar border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadres into the state of Nagaland.
In exercise to honour and keep alive the supreme sacrifices made by the two comrades, ASU organises the trophy annually in memory of the two martyrs.
Road to finals: Liangmai FC
Liangmai FC defeated Knight Sporting Club Chozuba 2-0 and Tiema Khe Kidima 7-0 in the 1st and 2nd match respectively.
In the quarter final, Liangmai FC overpowered End of an Era 6-2.
Liangmai FC defeated defending champion New Market FC 1-0 in the semi finals.

Red Scars FC registered win over All Nagaland 2 Wheelers Taxi Association 6-0 in the first match. It defeated Viswemi FC 2-0 in the second match.
In the quarter final, Red Scars FC defeated Football for Change Academy 2-0.
Red Scars FC booked finals berth after defeating United FC Piphema 3-1 in the semi finals.
