Kohima, September 11 (MExN): One of the longest running literary competitions in the state, the 24th Spero Meliora 2016 of Kohima Village under the theme "Break the ice and steel a march" was held on September 10 at Kohima Village Council hall.
The event was jointly organised by the Dolphin Club Kohima and Kohima Village Students’ Union and supported by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Music Task Force And State Lotteries Khriehu Liezietsu.
The inaugural session was graced by guest speaker Khriesalie Vizo, Commissioner Secretary, IT Department.
He exhorted the gathering with references from the rise and fall of human civilizations in the past and reminded why we need to value our cultural and traditional virtues to prevent our society from deterioration. A slide show "Spero Meliora down memory lane" was presented by KVSU depicting competition scenes from the first edition till the present day, which was preceded by a recollection of the progress of the event from the pre-technology era to the hi-tech present era.
The events conducted during the one day extravaganza included - Singing (Solo and cultural song), essay, painting, debate, spelling bee and quiz.
