25th anniversary of Spero Meliora underway

The 25th anniversary of Spero Meliora (Silver jubilee) under the aegis of Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) and Dolphin Club Kohima got underway here at Kohima Village Council Hall.  

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Khrietuo Mezhür, director SCERT stressed on the need to have team spirit and the take competition to the higher level. He said in games and sports platform, strength is crucial to compete with others and intelligent for competition events like singing, debate, spelling bee, painting etc.  

Unless one is intelligent he/she will not be able to debate with another person, he said. In civilized society, Mezhür said, we use intelligent to compete with others. Referring to spelling bee competition, he expressed dismay over the random use of spellings in Whatsapp and Facebook messages. He called upon the students to use the correct usage of spelling, adding that spelling is a very important tool and one should be careful and use it appropriately.  

Earlier, KVSU president Khrietuo Pienyii delivered welcome address while Dolphin Club president Medovilhoulie Tseikha delivered keynote address. This two day long literary event will be marked by Solo Competition, Debate (KVSU), Painting & Essay, Cultural Song, Debate (NASU), Spelling Bee and Quiz.  

The valedictory function will take place on October 7. Kohima Village Council chairman Dr. Neiphi Kire will speak at the function.
