25th Hornbill Festival 2024: Two Days to go

The 25th edition of Hornbill Music Festival 2024 has added a special feature, namely the ‘JBL Busking Zone’ which will showcase singers  from all the 17 districts of Nagaland from December 2 to 9 at JBL Arena, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

The singers include Shelao Kheang Konyak (Mon), Lumzila Sangtam (Kiphire), Helole Jishing (Tseminyu), Ashi and Ayin (A Duo Folk Fusion Artiste) (Shamator), Kukhruno Khamo (Phek), Longham Phom (Longleng), Moamernla Jamir (Mokokchung), Yongkongkelep Chang (Tuensang), Nchumbemo Yanthan (Wokha), Atusa Katiry (Meluri), Lengnio C (Noklak), Neikethonuo Secii (Chümoukedima), Micro Ensemble (Dimapur), Mughasheli Y Yeputhomi (Zunheboto), Keyichitube Nza (Peren), Jamir Sang (Kohima) and Esther S Jans (Niuland).

Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland through X described ‘JBL Busking Zone’ as, “Fantastic opportunities of International platforms for our own Naga artists in our own backyard.”

TaFMA chairman Theja Meru also shared on his social media handles, saying “OHANA - Ohana in Hawaiian means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.

He also expressed gratitude to HarmanPro India for their support towards ‘JBL Busking Zone.’

State level control room for 25th Hornbill Festival
A State Level Control Room to ensure smooth conduct of 25th Edition of Hornbill Festival is being set up in the office of the Chief Secretary Nagaland with the following composition: Chief Secretary, Dr J Alam, IAS as the Chairman and ACS, Finance Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS as the Co- Chairman. 

A DIPR report stated that the other members include Commissioner & Secretary, J&L Kikheto Sema IAS, Home Commissioner Vyasan R IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, W&H Kesonyu Yhome IAS, SS (Home) Limasunep IPS, Secretary I&C Shanavas IAS,  Secretary (TPT) Secy. (Home) Robert Longchari, Orenthung Lotha, Jt. CEO, NSDMA Johny Ruangmei, Joint Director IPR, Asangla Imsong and Dy. Director, IT Daniel Krocha. The State control room will function 24X7.

The first meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary on November 27 at Chief Secretary’s conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, where the Committee deliberated at length on the transportation and traffic issues at the Hornbill Festival venue at Kisama.

The meeting also called for cooperation from all line departments including key aspects like such as logistics, security arrangements, cultural performances, vendor managements and crowd control to make the event successful and enjoyable for all participants and visitors.

The control room will co-ordinate with various agencies involved in the Hornbill Festival and deal with emergencies if any.
