3rd NAP draws with Genesis FC Tsg, Last minute
goal keeps Hongpong XI FC’s hope alive in Pool B
TUENSANG, OCTOBER 28 (MExN): The 3rd NAP Battalion drew with Genesis FC Tuensang 1-1 in Pool A, while Hongpong XI FC Haak edged Mt.Pongen FC 2-1 on Day 18 of the Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship.
Following a goalless first half, the 3rd NAP went one up with a 47th minute goal. Genesis was quick to recover from the setback equalising 5 minutes later through Lipesi. The cops are still without a win in 4 games with 3 draws and 1 loss and only one match left to play. It was the last league game for Genesis. As per the league standings, both teams are virtually out of the tournament.
In Pool B, Hongpong XI FC Haak kept its hope of a place in the quarter-finals through a last minute goal against Mt. Pongen FC. Hongpong’s Temsu struck in the 27th minute to take the lead but Mt. Pongen levelled the score in the 36th through a superb effort from Yemlongchaba.
The match appeared set for a draw but luck came Hongpong’s way as a shot from Yemchumong found the back of the net in the dying seconds to ensure win. Despite the win, Hongpong’s fate rests on the outcome of the last Pool B game between Scavenger Hunt FC and the 40 AR on October 31.
