2.6 lakh children to be immunized against polio

Kohima, January 21 (DIPR): The Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) for 2011 in Nagaland will be held on January 23. The Department of Health & Family Welfare will be administering polio drops to over 2.6 lakh eligible children (0-5 years) in the state in 2604 polio booths to be manned by 10416 vaccinators and 521 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics. In this connection, all sections of the people, agencies (government and non-government including security forces and police), organisations and community leaders and parents of children below 5 years have been requested to come forward to ensure that all eligible children received the polio drops.

Mon: In view of intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) programme from January 23 and 27 throughout the country, the DC, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS has directed all the Administrative Officers under, Mon to monitor and supervise the campaign, visit IPPI booths and submit reports to the DC, Mon. All Health workers and ASHAs are also directed to cover house to house for left out children on January 24 and 25. Block wise Medical Officers have been appointed to carry out the exercise of all the children between 0-5 years old under Mon dist.

Dimapur: The first round IPPI (Polio) Sunday 2011 will be held on January 23, 2011 in Dimapur district. All parents and guardians are requested to bring their children 0-5 years to the nearest Polio booth for polio immunization from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. In view of this, Medical Officers, Vaccinators, and Health Workers were re-oriented and trained, stated a press note issued by Dr. Sukhato Sema, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur. The Department also appeals to all the public to kindly co-operate in the forthcoming IPPI round to make it a success.
