An image handout to the media by the NSCN (R) on September 14 shows it’s President, Wangtin Naga and Ato Kilonser, P Tikhak along with the 26 cadres of Myanmar based NSCK (K) led by Brigadier Pholai Ponglaham who has reportedly joined the NSCN (R).
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): Twenty six (26) armed cadres of Myanmar based NSCN(K) led by Brigadier Pholai Ponglaham, who was also the Chairman of Wancho Region NSCN (K) has joined the NSCN (R) group.
A press release issued by the NSCN (R) MIP secretary said President, Wangtin Naga and Ato-Kilonser, P Tikhak expressed their happiness and lauded the officers and cadres for taking the right decision in joining the party.
The collective leaders, while welcoming them to their fold, assured to give them all kind of support to “bring lasting peace in all the Naga areas and in particular in Wancho Region.” A small program was organized on September 14 to welcome them.
On the occasion, the senior cadres informed that, many of them had been in service of the Nation for more than three decades but were deeply disturbed by the division within the Naga groups in recent past. They were also greatly perturbed by mindless killing among the Naga brothers, the press release stated.
The defected cadres, meanwhile, expressed faith in the able leadership of NSCN (R) President and Ato Kilonser to “steer the Naga society to the path of peace, progress and prosperity and also exuded high hope and confidence in the GoI in bringing a lasting peace in the Naga areas.”
They also expressed their happiness and appreciation on the efforts put by the GoI and the Naga groups to resolve the long pending Indo-Naga issue with all honesty and sincerity, the press release further read.
