
Mon declared Men’s Team Champion while Kohima clinches Women’s Team Championship

The 26th Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championships concluded on October 26 at multi-purpose sports complex, Mokokchung with Col Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant, 12 Assam Rifles as the valedictory patron at the closing ceremony.
Addressing the audience at the closing ceremony, Col Rahul Gurung stated that he sees many athletes who would leave their imprint on Nagaland sports history. He encouraged those who did not win not to be dejected, and those who did win not to become complacent, but to work harder and strive for greater heights in the game. Citing Milka Singh and Mary Kom as examples, he discussed the keys to success, which include sincerity, willpower, perseverance, and hard effort.
In the team’s event, Mon District was the winning team in the men’s category while Kohima District team was the runner-up. In the women’s category Kohima were declared the winner while Niuland were the runners-up and the most disciplined team was awarded to Niuland District Table Tennis Association. Nipusi Dzuvichu was also awarded the youngest player of the tournament which was sponsored by MDTTA.
Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association hosted the 26th Inter-District and State Table Tennis Championship under the aegis of Nagaland Table Tennis Association. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Aosunep Ozükum, Convenor, organizing committee.
