
Pisgah United FC defeat New Young FC, DEF Tsg through to quarter-finals
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): Pisgah United scored four goals as they secured their first victory of the tournament today at the ongoing Loyem Memorial Trophy.
Pisgah took a 13th minute lead thanks to Imlong’s tap in after a beautiful defence splitting pass from Beshang. The exhausted New Young FC couldn’t find the equaliser as goals began to pour in from the other end through the boots of Tangsoi and Menya with two goals. Both teams however failed to qualify from their Group A for quarter-finals and are knocked out from the tournament.
Earlier in the first match, DEF Tsg who have already secured their place in the quarter-finals faced Saksi FC. Right from the beginning DEF showed their dominance by controlling the midfield with more ball possession.
John in the 12th minute put his team ahead in the first half. Jersey no 8 Mongthung made the score 2-0 with a brilliant effort from close range before John converted a penalty in the 58th minute to finish the match 3-0. With this loss for Saksi FC, they exit the tournament.
