MON, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The 26th Youth Parliament was successfully held at PM Shri JNV Mon on August 26. Hosted by Tanmoy Das, PGT Geography and coordinator of the Youth Parliament Committee, the event featured distinguished guests including Yoktin Konyak, former MLA of Mon Town Constituency, L. Moala Aier, District Education Officer of Mon District, and Momi Kalita, Principal of JNV Longleng, a DIPR report stated. 

The program commenced with a warm welcome from Principal Tajber Singh, who expressed gratitude to the guests and encouraged students to excel. Yoktin Konyak delivered a brief speech highlighting the significance of the Youth Parliament and extended his best wishes to the participants.

The event was officially inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom that the Youth Parliament aims to instill among students.

Students actively participated in the parliament simulation, taking on roles such as ministers, ruling party members, and opposition leaders. They engaged in lively discussions and debates on contemporary issues including the recent NET scam, the Kanchenjunga Express accident, and the importance of cyber security. A skit introducing a new bill on an education scam showcased their creativity and understanding of legislative processes.

During the Lok Sabha simulation, the guests praised the students for their dedication and performance, noting their understanding of parliamentary procedures and their ability to articulate and debate critical issues. The program offered students a valuable platform to develop their leadership skills and gain insights into the democratic process.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Karengmili Timungpi, who expressed appreciation to the guests, participants, and everyone involved in making the Youth Parliament a success.
