The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) serves as a catalyst for entrepreneurship in Nagaland, empowering individuals to establish small businesses and generate employment opportunities.
This was stated in Nagaland Economic Survey 2024-25 brought out by Directorate of Industries & Commerce and tabled in the recent 6th session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima.
As of 2025, a total of 2870 loans were sanctioned by the government, fostering self- reliance and economic growth across the state.
The percentage of women loan sanctions is 42% while the loan percentage for male stands 58%.
In terms of geographical distribution, urban areas receive 1209 loans and rural areas at 1661 loans, reflecting strong penetration of the scheme even in remote locations.
The sanctioned loans primarily support manufacturing (1660 loans) and service-based businesses (1210 loans).
