Niuland, March 30 (MExN): The 288th branch post office in Nagaland was inaugurated at Hakhizhe village under Niuland district on March 30.

It was formally inaugurated by Som Kamei, Postmaster General, North East Region–II, Dimapur in the presence of Razuzakie Phinyo, Superintendent Posts, Nagaland Division, Village Council chairman of Hakhizhe Village and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamei said that the Post office at Hakhizhe Village was the need of the hour considering the distance to the nearest Post office.

He emphasized the importance of having a pincode as it simplifies the delivery of letters and parcels.

With the new office at their door steps, Kamei encouraged the public to take advantage and avail the various services available in the post office; such as small savings schemes like RD, SSA, MIS etc as well as Postal Life Insurance which is one of the core products of the Department.

Also speaking on the occasion, Phinyo, Superintendent of Posts, Nagaland Division said that with the opening of the new office, it will be cater to the needs of neighbouring villages as well.

He thanked the Postmaster General for taking personal initiative to open the Branch Office and also appreciated the VCC & head GB for vigorously pursuing the natter till its fruition.

The programme was chaired by L Imtikumzuk, O/o the PMG, NE-II, invocation prayer by Pukhaho Swu, Pastor Hakhizhe Baptist Church. Viyito Shohe, VCC Hakhizhe delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by PC Laltlankima, IP, Kohima Sub-Division.
