Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): 29 Assam Rifles apprehended three arms dealers from Burma Camp, Dimapur on March 21. The individuals had two 7.65 mm pistols along with four magazines, according to a press release. They have been identified as Vetatso Chakhesang, Sashi Aier and Athikho Lea. On questioning, they revealed that they were planning to sell the weapons to an unidentified person in Assam. The apprehended individuals were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, it added.
One NSCN (IM) cadre apprehended
During a routine patrol on March 21, troops of 31 Assam Rifles apprehended one NSCN (IM) cadre from18 Mile Junction, Tuli. The apprehended has been identified as B Phuhlom Phom, Leacy, Phom Region. One pistol, four rounds of live ammunition and some extortion notes were recovered on him, the release stated. The cadre was later handed over to Police Station, Tuli for further investigation.
Free medical camp at Wapnyu
33 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector AR organised a free medical camp on March 21 at Wapnyu village (Pani Kheti). More than 210 patients from Wanpnyu villages and other neighboring villages were treated for various common ailments by Assam Rifles medical officer along with his team of medical assistants. The locals appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in reaching out to the people living in remote villages where no medical facilities exist, the press release noted.

During a routine MVCP on March 20, 18 Assam Rifles seized illegal liquor from a van coming from Jalukie to Peren and apprehended one identified as Tomy in the connection.
