29TH LMT: Goal Galore, Nyenshen FC and La-Son FC register wins

Defending champions Nyenshen FC took on Exuberance FC in the first match of the ongoing 29th Loyem Memorial Trophy on November 13 at parade ground, Tuensang.

The highlight of the day and the crowd puller was the presence of MustafiTagoe from Ghana, playing for Nyenshen FC.

Nyenshen looked to win comfortably over the Exuberance FC who were defeated 4-0 in their first outing against Shanen FC but the defending champions were given an early scare when Exuberance scored the fastest goal of the tournament in the 35th seconds after the custodian of Nyenshen FC Eshong miss timed the back pass.

The parity was soon restored after Nyithong (7) scored through a header in the 7th minute. The attackers of Nyenshen FC took many shots however many of them were off the target. 

MustafiTagoe marked his name in the score sheet by scoring through a penalty kick after a defender of Exuberance handed the ball inside the penalty box. Both the teams saw many chances to score but was unable to convert as the match into a break with the score at 2 -1.

After the break, the defending champions looked more determined to extend the score but the resilient defense of Exuberance kept the score unmoved.

However, several barrages of attacks finally bore fruit when Surhosol (15) in the 54th minute just few minutes before the final whistle. The end of this match also meant that Exuberance FC are knocked out of the tournament and Nyenshen FC goes into the next stage as the group winner.

Match officials were, referee T. Chuba, 1st assistant T. Shelim, 2nd assistant M. Jongshi and 4th official S. Yentin.

In the second match, La-Son FC took on Kuthur FC who were playing in their first match of the tournament which was a thriller of a match and handed a thumping defeat.

La-Son after losing 4-0 to Paopong FC needed to win this match and they did in style as they scored the most goals of the tournament so far.

Angki (6) slotted home in the 22nd minute to begin the onslaught over the debutant, the score sheet kept ticking Homang (7) scoring brace in the 43rd and 55th minute, ShangpongNeanmai (20) and Gunling (19) in the 57th minute.

The match ended 5-0 in favor of La-Son FC who have 1 lost and 1 win in their group with one match in their group to be played between Paopong FC and Kuthur FC.
