DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): The 2nd North East Kungfu Open Championship 2011 organized by Nagaland Shaolin Kungfu Arts Association at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur concluded this evening with team from Manipur emerging as overall champions.
Pukhavi Yeptho, former member, Dimapur Municipal Council graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and gave away medals and certificates to the winners of different categories. In his short speech, Pukhavi was of the view that martial art is a sport which is not only for self defense and physical fitness but importantly to discipline one’s life. He called upon the martial artists to utilize their talents to bring fame to the nation while also safeguarding the interest of the nation through the sport.
He called on the participants and the officials of the championship to tap the talents and make best use of it for a meaningful purpose to take nation forward. He wished all the participants success in their career.
He donated Rs. 20,000 towards the organizers, Rs. 5,000 for overall champions and Rs. 5,000 to Jumpers club for presenting a cultural item in the closing ceremony. Fighters from comprising of boys and girls of various age and weight categories including sub-junior category from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and host state Nagaland participated in the event.
