Patkai, October 29 (MExN): The 2nd Patkai Badminton Open Tournament 2023, organised by the Patkai Badminton Club (PBC), Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) was held from October 27 to 28.
A total of 15 teams, consisting of 12 Men's and 3 Women's Doubles teams, participated in the tournament held at the Dr H Ibotombi Singh Patkai Indoor Stadium.
In the Women's Doubles final on October 28, Serve Aces Team, represented by Iciheile Hieme and Kungwiliu Ntung secured victory by defeating the Bye Bye team, consisting of Kelevino Rungsung and Zudao Newmai, with a score of 21-12 and 21-13.
In the Men's Doubles final, Shuttle Maestros' duo, Dr Eniro Murry & Rokosito Khro prevailed over Simple Synergy's pair, Limasanen I Imsong and David Rungsung with a score of 21-12 and 21-14 to emerge as the champions.
Earlier on October 27, the Guest of Honour, Dr Dakter Esse Jamir, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at PCC (A), officially inaugurated the tournament. Dr Jamir emphasized the energetic and unifying qualities of sports and encouraged all participants to exhibit good sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the event.
Additionally, the President of PBC Limasanen I Imsong highlighted the club's activities in his welcome speech. The opening ceremony also featured a musical performance by Atuna Shikhu, the winner of the Magnum Opus VIII Original Singing Competition in 2023.
