3 arrested with IMFL, contrabands

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): In a delayed report, the Excise Narcotic Cell enforcement group on June 29 seized 864 cans of beer (500ml) and 13 bottles of assorted IMFL from one shop belonging to one, Asraf Uddin during a routine check near 6th Mile, Dimapur. 

According to Katoho Sumi, Dy Commissioner of Excise (NC), the accused was arrested and brought to the Excise Narcotic Cell Office for further investigation along with the seized contraband. Later, the seized items were deposited in the Office Malkhana and the case is presently under investigation as per the relevant provisions of the NLTP Act 1989.

Narcotic Cell, Kohima seize contrabands 

In a separate incident, Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell mobile unit recovered 1 lakh suspected ‘Yaba tablets’ (WY), neatly wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each on July 1. 

This was stated through a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police (Crime) & PRO, PHQ, Kohima which further mentioned that the mobile unit had intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle identified as a Renault Duster Saloon (Brown colour) bearing registration number AS01-DB-4512, coming from Imphal, near Peducha. Upon thorough search, it was found that the contrabands were concealed inside a specially built compartment near the spare tyre.

The approximate value of the recovered contraband amounted to Rs 20 lakh, the PRO said. All the suspected contraband items were seized and two occupants of the vehicle namely David Jamkholun Baite and Thongminthang both residents of Tengnoupal district, Manipur were arrested. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, it said.
