Coinciding with Tsüngremmung festival of the Ao Nagas, a cultural exchange programme called ‘Tradition Echoing Peace’ was held at the Nagaland-Assam border belt of Saring village under Longchem EAC Hq, some 100 kilometres away from Mokokchung town. 


The cultural programme was organized to foster the relationship and create peacefully co-existence between the communities living in the Assam and Nagaland border belt area. A charity drive for Assam flood victims was also organized on the occasion. 


BJP state president and Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Minister Temjen Imna Along was the special guest and Advisor, Treasuries & Accounts, National Highways Dr Longrineken was the special invitee. 


Addressing the gathering, Along called for mutual co-existence between the two states, to break down differences and build bridges between the communities living in the Assam-Nagaland border. 


"We should be human first and build peaceful co-existence and settle any existing differences through dialogue" he exhorted. 


Along also announced that three Border Posts would be set-up along the Nagaland- Assam border belt while clarifying that the establishment of these border posts should not be taken in a negative way by Assam since it’s purpose is to secure the border.


Along meanwhile called upon all to contribute either in cash or kind to the Assam flood victims while pointing out that Assam is Nagaland’s immediate neighbor and this cannot be erased till the end of time. 


Advisor Dr Longrineken who also spoke at the event suggested that such exchange programmes should be held regularly between the people of the two states to preserve peaceful co-existence. 


The cultural programme was organized by Longchem EAC and was attended by communities from both Assam and Nagaland. The celebration marked with cultural dance and songs which was followed by a grand feast.
