A month after Nagaland started its COVID-19 vaccination drive for those aged 18 years and above on May 17, three villages on June 17 became the first in the State to achieve 100 per cent vaccination of beneficiaries in the age bracket 18 and above.

Longjemdang and Moalenden villages under Mokokchung district and Yali village under Tuensang district achieved the feat during 100% COVID-19 Vaccination drives held on June 16 and 17.

Under the joint initiative of Health and Family Welfare Department and DAY- NSRLM Mokokchung, a 100% COVID-19 Vaccination drive was held on June 17 at Longjemdang Village, Mangkolemba Block Mokokchung where all eligible 18 years and above were vaccinated, Mendila Imsong, BPM DAY- NSRLM 
RD Block Mangkolemba informed in a press release on Thursday.

A similar drive was conducted on June 16 at Moalenden Village under Ongpangkong North Mokokchung, where all the villagers aged 18 years and above were successfully vaccinated, according to a press release from Rongsenlila Ao, BPM, NSRLM RD Block Ongpangkong North, Mokokchung.

The Village Councils of both villages extended appreciation and gratitude to the Health and Family Welfare department and NSRLM RD Mokokchung for their commitment and efforts towards the rural communities.

Nagaland Chief Secretary on Thursday took to Twitter to congratulate the villages on their achievement.

“You lead the way for Nagaland to achieve covid vaccination target in 2-3 months or even earlier. Salute Team Tsg and Mkg, VCs, HLWs, FLWs and volunteers. Keep up the good work,” the tweet read.
