30 families get on-spot power connection at Dhansiripar

Under the Saubhagya programme, 30 families living under Below Poverty Line in Dhansiripar village were given on-spot power connection during a Gram Shakti Abhiyan programme, which is a part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, held at Dhansiripar Village Council Hall on Saturday.  

The Gram Shakti Abhiyan was organized by RD Block, Dhansiripar in collaboration with Power Department, Dimapur.  

Speaking at the programme, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Statistical & Programme Implementation, GoI, R.K. Boria highlighted the various schemes under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and urged the citizens to take advantages of the programmes.  

Boria who is also the General Observer for Dimapur district for implementation of the scheme said that the programme was being implemented in 21058 villages across the country. He said the GoI has deputed 1200 Deputy Secretaries and Under Secretaries all over the country as Observers to implement the project. He said that the Government aims to electrify every household in the country by March 2019 and accordingly the officers in collaboration with line departments were working to achieve the target.  

Chief Programme Manager, Rural Electrification Cooperation Limited, Bijay Kumar Mohanty informed that 7.05 crore households were yet to be electrified in the country out of which 91,000 households are from Nagaland. Stating that the procedure for getting power connection has been simplified by the Government, he encouraged the citizens to take advantage of the schemes at their doorsteps.  

“With the support of the Power Department we are in a position to achievement 100% electrification,” he added. Project Director, DRDA Dimapur, H. Atokhe Aye thanked the General Observers of the scheme for their tireless efforts in seeing that the target is achieved.  

EE Chumukedima, Electrical Division, Er. Kasho Chishi also spoke about the convergence of Saubhagya with Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.  

During the programme, officials from the Energy Efficiency Service Ltd (EESL) also sold LED bulbs to the villagers at a subsidized rate of Rs 50 as against the original rate of Rs 70. Rahul Khanna from the EESL oversaw the bulb distribution programme.  

Later, the 30 BPL beneficiaries were given certificates by the officials present. The Gram Shakti Abhiyan camp started on April 14 and would culminate on May 5.
