32 artisans empanelled during tribal artisans mela in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 23 (MExN): Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India conducted a Tribal Artisans Employment Mela on September 23 at Town Hall, Zunheboto. This mela is part of the GoI’s new scheme launched on April 18, 2023- PTP-NER- Promotion of Tribal Product in North East Region, a DIPR report informed.

DC Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali inaugurated the programme. The DC was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Sanyam Kashyap, General Manager TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd.) under the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and senior program executive Ashif Ikbal Hussain.

During the artisan mela, sample products are selected by TRIFED and experts from other agencies who will be responsible for giving bulk order at a later stage. The products are thereafter sold through retail outlets of TRIFED and also through online portal tribesindia.com as well as Amazon and Flipkart. The artisans identified during Mela will be invited and sponsored by TRIFED for all India exhibition and fairs.  In Zunheboto, a total of 198 tribal artisans participated out of which 32 were empanelled.

In the first phase of TRIFED conducted in entire NE region, a total of 300 artisans attended out of which 115 was empanelled and subsequently the training of identified individuals were followed. These 115 artisans are being given a bulk order of around 3.36 crores for marketing through TRIFED.
