32 Assam Rifles apprehend NPG cadres

Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): 32 Assam Rifles conducted four operations between August 28 and September 3 in Dimapur leading to apprehension of high ranking cadres of FGN, NNC (Non-Accordist), “Over Ground Workers” of NNC (Non-Accordist), and “armed peddlers”, according to a press release from PRO, Assam Rifles. Two .22 pistols, cash and “incriminating documents” were recovered in the operations, it added.  

The first operation was launched at Ghorapati on August 28 following information regarding extortion in the area. In the operation, the 32 Assam Rifles personnel apprehended two persons identified as Rajapeyu Ashika Achumi (33) of FGN and Captain Nitoho (33) of NNC (Non Accordist) with slips of FGN and NNC (Non-Accordist), the release said. Both along with the recovered items were later handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.  

In the second operation at Naharbari on August 29, various incriminating documents and rubber stamps pertaining to NNC (Non-Accordist) along with “extortion money” amounting to a Rs. 65,500/- were recovered during a search from a suspected house, according to Assam Rifles. The apprehended individuals were identified as Kiumukam Yimchunger (52), President of NNC (Non-Accordist), Hanjikhuing (24), Philip (29), “Over Ground Worker” of NNC (Non-Accordist). All the apprehended were handed over to East Police Station for further investigation.  

The third operation was launched at Walford on August 29 based on information regarding presence of armed cadres. The AR troops carried out spot search of a vehicle and recovered one .22 pistol. The occupants of the vehicle were immediately apprehended and handed over to East Police Station along with recovered items, it was informed. Identified as Selithre Sangtam (43), Home Secretary of FGN, Lakimong (26), Hoveto (46), and Kughavi (49), the apprehended persons were handed over to Dimapur Police for further interrogation, the release said.  

The fourth operation was launched at Notun Basti on September 3, where troops of 32 AR intercepted a suspect and recovered one illegal pistol. The apprehended individual was identified as David Zhimo, Aged (45), Tatar in FGN. He along with the recovered items was later handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, it was added.
