DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): A day long Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification drive was carried out on May 16 in and around Kohima town. Five teams from the district administration and police were dispatched in different pockets of the state capital to detect illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters.
During the verification drive, cases of ILP with expiry date and some without valid pass were detected and accordingly penalties were imposed as per section (2), (3) and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873, a DIPR report stated.
A total of 325 ILP defaulters were detected and after verification of all required documents, an amount of Rs 1,20,000 (one lakh twenty thousand) was realized as penalty which will be deposited as government revenue.
It also informed that the Special Task Force constituted for ILP verification will be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters.
The verification drive was conducted in pursuance to the direction issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
