Kohima, February 4 (MExN): No Coronavirus symptoms were found on 33 persons who came to Nagaland from the affected countries, an official statement informed. 


While they were quarantined in compliance with the existing protocol set by the Centre, none of them are found symptomatic as per the protocol specified by the Government of India (GoI), it said.


The statement issued by Principal Director, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Dr Vizolie Z. Suokhrie further informed that the department is taking up necessary precautions to monitor “all such persons and has also set up necessary measures for any untoward events in conformity of the GoI Guidelines.”


Nagaland H&FW Minister, S Pangnyu Phom also held a meeting with the Secretary, Principal Director, Mission Director (NHM) and Departmental officers to review the situation of the 2019 nCoV (Novel Coronavirus) in the state on February 3. 


Meanwhile, the department advised the public not to panic and sought full cooperation, particularly from those who are coming from the affected countries. They are further urged  to contact the department at the following numbers with request to self declare: 7005435243/ 9856 071745/7005 53 9653.


In addition, the department in the interest of public, requested all concerned who are “presently residing or have visited the affected country(s)” on or before January 15, 2020 to kindly send their detailed address (Country, Province and address as well as Nagaland address along with contact number) to the aforementioned contact numbers  either through text message or WhatsApp. 


“The personal information of these persons will be kept under the preview of Confidentiality,” it added. 


Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio also held a meeting with the Department of H&FW and officials concerned to review the situation and preparedness of the State on Tuesday. 


Taking to Twitter after the meeting, Rio requested the people of Nagaland to extend “full cooperation and follow guidelines issued by the Department.”


According to Reuters news agency, the total infections in mainland China rose to 20,438, and there have been nearly 200 cases elsewhere across 24 countries and China's special administrative regions Hong Kong and Macau. There were 3 reported cases in India as on February 4.
