The 33rd edition of the Langpangkong Kakateshir Mungdang (LKM) sports meet which began on January 10 at Chucuhyimlang village, Mokokchung, concluded on Friday with I Meyionen Jamir, Chief Information Commissioner, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.
At the LKM Sports Meet, football and volleyball championships were played between the various student units of LKM. 16 teams competed for the football trophy, while 9 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams participated in the volleyball championship.
The football final match was played between Kangtsung and Chuchuyimlang, which went in favour of Kangtsung. Kangtsung won 1-0 against Chuchuyimlang. Mulongsungit from Chuchuyimlang was given the Best Goalkeeper award, Longrisunep from Kangtsung won the Best Defender award; the highest goal scorer went to Pursunep of Longkong, who scored a total of 5 goals; and Merentemjen of Chuchuyimlang was given the Emerging Player award. The player of the tournament went to Pursunep of Longkong.
In the men’s volleyball final match, Changtongya Yimsen were the winners, while Changtongya were the runners-up. In the women's category, Salulemang triumphed, with Chuchuyimlang finishing second. The Chuchuyimlang Kaketshir Telongjem was the overall champions of the 33rd LKM sports meet.
The inaugural programme was graced by Imnatiba, Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland.
The LKM consists of 19 student units in Langpangkong Range in Mokokchung district.
