34 to contest in 62nd Southern Angami Sports Association wrestling C’ship

34 wrestlers are vying for the 62nd Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) wrestling championship which will be held today at Kimipfuphe Ground, Kigwema. 

Speaking to SASA President, Rokovizo Meze, he informed The Morung Express that the wrestlers taking part during this edition's Senior Naga Wrestling style competition are from the Southern Angami region villages. 

One of the much awaited sports meet of the region, the organizers informed that sitting capacity of more than 3000 chairs are being arranged for the spectators. 

The president while welcoming people to come and witness the ring, also informed that special seats are being arranged for the former champions of the area, also including Angami or Nagaland.

Another exclusive arrangement being made is free chair for elders of the region. The president said "Southern Angami elders who are above 70 years are welcome as we will be arranging free chairs for them to witness the Wrestling." 
Heavy preparations, ahead of the event were going on at the venue. The ground is being managed by the Southern Angami Students Union (SASU). 

As part of the 3-day 62nd SASA meet, the event will also host the 3rd Edition of Dzükou Cup 2024. 

Teams representing the 13 villages of the region are participating in Men's Football and Volleyball for both men and women. During the inaugural programme to be held in the morning at 9:30 am, Dr. Tsielhoutuo Ato Rhütso, 9th Kohima town AC MLA  will be the inaugural guest and Kevipodi Sophie, MLA of 14th Southern Angami-1 AC will be the closing guest. Other guests during the 3 days sports meet are Former Southern Angami Public Organization President, Neiketou Kiso and Brigadier Sandeep Kapoor, Commander, 44 Mountain brigade.
