
‘I Care to Give’ project launched in Dimapur

From 2017 till November 2020, Women Police Station, Dimapur has registered a total of 35 cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and has solved all the cases.
This information was shared by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Branch, Dimapur, Atu Zumvu during the launching programme of ‘I Care to Give’ Project organized by Childline Dimapur, Prodigals’ Home at Tourist Lodge on Wednesday.
He also informed that a total of 30 cases relating to women, children and cyber crime were reported at the same police station from January 2020 till November.
Highlighting about projects of the Childline Dimapur which was launched in 2011, the Centre Coordinator, Lozua Kape said that it has taken up 2600 cases till date. It was informed that 22 families were extending monetary contribution each month towards Childline Dimapur. With their contributions along with other well wishers, Childline Dimapur is currently supporting seven school going children. Lozua also said that Childline Dimapur has been able to provide smartphones to six children for academic purpose during the pandemic.
The main objective of starting the ‘I Care to Give’ Project is to inculcate a culture of giving by those who have extra and to do something positive for the underprivileged.
Secretary, Department of Christian Education Ministry under Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu, Jesse Yeptho who exhorted the gathering was optimistic that the Project would generate joy in the hearts of the less privileged children. He pointed out that kind words were not enough for children but one needed to exhibit love for them to know that they are being cared for. He expressed the hope that the Project would translate love into action.
Principal Secretary (retd) N Hushili Sema, IAS who also addressed the gathering lauded Childline Dimapur for its services and appealed people to get out of their comfort zones and help others who were less privileged.
Program Manager, State Child Protection Society, Raitale Zeliang also expressed words of solidarity during the programme.
