36th KYO annual sports cum wrestling meet

KOHIMA, JANUARY 9 (DIPR): Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Public Relations, Printing & Stationery, Er. Kropol Vitsu graced the three-day 36th Khuzama Youth Organisation (KYO) Annual Sports cum Wrestling Meet 2014 as Chief Guest at Khuzama Local Ground on January 9.

Er. Kropol Vitsu said that Khuzama could be tagged as a “Sporting Village” as many good sportsmen representing government departments and various organisations hail from Khuzama village. Vitsu challenged the sportspersons to prepare for the Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) Meet and encouraged them to bring laurels for the village.
Observing that wrestling competition brings unity amongst different communities (tribes) through Open Wrestling, the chief guest opined that the present wrestling trend was different from the earlier practices which were of socio-religious system. Stating that the Naga Style wrestling is on the pipeline for category system competition, Vitsu called upon the sportspersons to take up the sport with professionalism.

Reverend Ketsozeho Sale, Pastor KBC read the scripture and invoked God’s blessings. Welcome address was delivered by President KYO, Meyieho Kin while Asi Kera enthralled the gathering with a song.

The tournament flame was lighted by the Chief Guest and lighting of the tournament torch by the best players of the last tournament.
