39 Gorkha churches come together in Nagaland for annual conference

The first Biennial and 17th annual general conference of Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland commenced in Chümoukedima on January 10.

Chümoukedima, January 10 (MExN): The three-day first Biennial and 17th annual general conference of the Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) commenced at The Refuge Retreat Centre, Tsithrongse Village, Chümoukedima district on January 10. 

The event being held on the theme ‘Global vision for the Gospel’ – Matthew 28:19 is hosted by Nepali Baptist Church (NBC) Kohima, Gorkha Baptist Peducha (GBC) Peducha, NBC Sechu Zubza, NBC New Medziphema, NBC Medziphema and Gorkha Baptist Fellowship Piphema.

The Media & Publicity Committee, AGBCN General Conference in a press release stated that around 350 delegates from 39 Nepali/Gorkha affiliated churches from Nagaland and associate member churches from Assam and Manipur are attending the conference which will conclude on January 12.

The main speakers of the conference are Devanand Kadariya, General Secretary, Nepal Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Kathmandu, Nepal and Rev Dr Puhohuto Sema, Executive Secretary, Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) while Neeraj Karki, Pastor NBC Meluri is the Bible study speaker and NBC Walford is the conference worship team.

The inaugural service was held Friday evening on the topic “Local church as the main subject of God’s mission” – I Peter 2:9 had NBCC Kathmandu general secretary Kadariya as the speaker. He encouraged  believers wherein the hosting churches came together to present the opening spotlight.

Pastor NBF Molvom, R M Rai led in Bible reading and prayer while introduction and welcome address was delivered by Rev Dr K Santabir Rai, Executive Secretary AGBCN and benediction was offered by Pastor NBC Kiphire Bhim Sapkota.

Special praise by GBC Tseminyu enthralled the congregation. Earlier, AGBCN chairman Dr Gopal Basnet unfurled the council flag.  
The second day will commence with morning devotion followed by business meeting, evening service on the topic “accomplishing mission in multicultural world” – Mathew 28:16-20 followed by cultural program.

The last day will have Sunday devotion service on the main theme of the conference at 8:30 am and closing service at 3pm on the topic “Importance of Modern Technology in Evangelism” – 1 Corinthians 9:22-23 which will be followed by the closing ceremony by host churches.
