3rd Kohima Dist Chess C’ship 2023 underway

A two day long 3rd Kohima District Chess Championship 2023 under the aegis of the Kohima District Chess Association (KDCA) commenced here today at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) complex.

The Championship registered 42 participants.

Gracing the opening ceremony, Kedihoto Puro, former president and advisor KDCA informed that Nagaland Chess Association was started in 1989 with K. Mepfhuo as the first president while KDCA was formed in 2015 with Visanyiizo Kuotsu as the first president. He said that Chess improves cognitive skills including concentration, decision making, reasoning and critical thinking.

Delivering welcome address, KDCA president Vizosielie Khoubve urged the participant to give their best to excel.

The inaugural function was compered by Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucii while Kevilezo Riipreo, Asst. Pastor, CRC, AG Road Kohima invoked God’s blessing.

Thenuvi-ii Kets presented a special number.

Mughaho Awomi, secretary Nagaland Chess Association and join secretary AICF will assist the championship as chief arbiter with three appeal committee members; Visanyiizo Kuotsu, Kevilekho Zumvii and Seyiekhrietuo Mere.

The award ceremony will take place on October 14.

The ceremony will be chaired by KDCA vice president Seyiekhrietuo Mere while KDCA advisor Visanyiizo Kuotsu will lead prize distribution ceremony.
Vote of thanks will be proposed by KDCA property secretary Kevisilie Lohe.
