3rd Open Penalty Shoot-out Tournament

Our Correspondent Kohima | April 26   The Prodigies Group under the aegis of Khedi Baptist Church Kohima today announced that the 3rd Open Penalty Shoot-Out Tournament under the motto “Innovating a stronger fellowship” will take place on May 13 at D. Khel (Seikhazou) Ground, Kohima village.   The event aims to provide a platform for the youth to have a positive and uplifting experience, to promote professional football players and clubs and share the stage with them and to create new and strong partnerships with local business communities to sponsor opportunities for people to participate in well-established sporting events. The organisers also expressed hope that the youth departments in the various churches will participate in the tournament and have an exciting and innovative fellowship through sports.   The champion will fetch a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 sponsored by Vuto Motors, Kohima while NV Press Kohima will sponsor 2nd prize amounting to Rs. 20,000. Modicare Kohima will sponsor the 3rd prize amounting to Rs. 10,000.   Active Station, High School, Kohima will sponsor the 4th prize amounting to Rs. 5000 and also the prize for the best goal keeper (gift coupon worth Rs.5000).   Registration forms are available for Rs. 100 at: Town area- Sports World, High School area- Active Station, opposite Axis Bank, BOC area- Kiran Sports & Stationary, MATO Building. Entry fee for the tournament is set at Rs. 2000.   Last date for submission of form has been fixed on May 11 and match fixture will be done on May 12 at D. Khel (Seikhazou) Ground at 3:00 pm.   The tournament will be played on knock-out basis.   The event will also witness sale of sporting goods and jerseys, accessories and also a food stall to cater to the event.   “We have made preparations to make it a social and family event for people to support the teams and also bless us through their presence,” said Prodigies Group public relations Avilie Mepfhii-o.   Invitation has also been extended to the girls’ team of Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima as well as Kohima Orphanage Home.   The event is also expected to draw participants from Kohima District Veteran Football Association.   The organisers have also invited interested teams across the state.   Prodigies Group consists of 15 members from Khedi Baptist Church Kohima, with a zeal for serving the Lord through various undertakings and charitable works.   From the diversities in their personal professions and trades they came together as a group to exalt God in “all the ways He has blessed us.”   In the process of searching for some new ways of fellowship, Prodigies Group initiated this open penalty shoot-out tournament.   It may be recalled that 32 teams participated in the 2nd edition last year.   Rules & Regulations for the tournament  

  • All team shall comprise of six players including a goal keeper
  • All team shall have either a manager or a coach
  • All players are to be in matching numbered jerseys
  • All players are to be in the proper football attires (Jersey set, football boots and football stockings)
