The Radiant Educational Society (RES), Kohima has successfully conducted 3rd RES Art Competition 2016 here today at SIRD Auditorium under the theme ‘Child Rights Begins in the womb.’ 47 students from 14 schools joined the competition.
Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, joint secretary social welfare and society director State Child Protection Society Nagaland graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. He said that every child has the right to survival, right to development, right to protection and right to participation according to the United Nation Convention on the rights of the child. He also said that in Naga society, family is the best institution of the child and that every child has the right to protection.
Nyuthe also encouraged the participants to educate the society through their art and put their best effort in achieving their goals as children are the future of the generation. He also appreciated the organizers for organizing such competition" that provided opportunities to children to express their creative skills and imitation to concrete reality.
RES Kohima chairman Menuokhrietuo Marcus said the objective of the competition was to promote youngsters with the role of art as one of the critical ingredient in the definition of children world and identity and to showcase their inborn talents. He also said that the competition was to help the children develop in many life skills as art is important for children especially during their early stage of development.
State Child Protection Society Nagaland co-sponsored this competition. Judges for the competition included Neivotuo Keyho, senior artist, directorate of art & culture, T. Yanger Ozukum, art expert, directorate of art & culture and Raitale Zeliang, programme manager, State Child Protection Society Nagaland. The Ist, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners received Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7000, Rs. 5000 and Rs. 2000 respectively while the 5th, 6th , 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th positions pocketed Rs. 1000 each.
