The 3rd Winter Night Carnival organized by the Adventure and Motorsport Association Mokokchung (AMAM) was inaugurated on December 14 at Mokokchung Town Police point.

Imnaonen Pongen, President, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem graced the inauguration programme as the special guest.

Moasashi Jamir, President, AMAM in his welcome address said that the main objective of organizing the carnival was to let people of Mokokchung come out of their cozy beds and warm fireplaces and enjoy the myriad of food, games and all other things that the carnival has to offer and to make the air of festivity merrier where families and friends can come and have a gala time.

Imnaonen Pongen, President, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, appreciated AMAM and said that the carnival is a noble initiative of AMAM. He said that the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic have affected everyone in one way or another, and we are barely recovering.

He added, “the carnival will heal our hearts and souls, and the few days of festivity will once again infuse the feeling of brotherhood among the citizens and hoped that the carnival will be a stepping stone for everyone to rise up from the ashes of the pandemic and rebuild our town.”

He suggested AMAM to continue with their noble works and if possible, organize such carnivals during other festivals like Moats and Tsungremmong and other events. He also suggested the MMC to identify the enterprising youths and encourage them by giving licenses, and explore ways and means to open their own stalls in and around the town throughout the year so that it can lessen the unemployment problem in our society and ultimately lead to a self-reliant and prospering society.

The winter night carnival starts at 6:00 p.m. from Mokokchung Police point and it will be held from December 14 to 17.
