DIMAPUR, JUNE 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) today stated that work on the 4 lane Dimapur-Kohima road project should not be stalled by anybody under any circumstances, keeping in mind the recent setbacks the project has faced.
A press note from the NTC reminded the state government that unhindered execution of the work, quality work as per specifications, completion of the project on time and security of the contractors and their field workers are the primary duty of the government. “As much as the credit of the successful completion of the project goes to the credit of the government; that much discredit will also go to them should anything go wrong with the project. We call upon the state government not to soft paddle with any element trying to stall the progress of the work,” it said.
The NTC further urged the contractors not to succumb to any pressure from any quarter for demand of money “which will have immense ramifications.” “Whenever anyone faces any inconvenience due to threats and interferences, report it to appropriate authorities instead of discontinuing the work. The contractors are also warned not to connive with unwanted and destructive elements with intension to take undue advantage on the people of Nagaland, we expect them to be transparent and proof their worth,” it added. The NTC also acknowledged the ACAUT and the Nagaland Governor for taking up the issue and said that “if the state government is alive and sensitive enough, this initiative should be a sufficient embarrassment.”
