Dimapur, March 10 (MExN): Four cadres of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) have been named in the charge sheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) before the NIA Special Court, Dimapur on March 10.
Three of the accused, Yangang Konyak @ Mopa and Ahon Longphong @ Sangti, Hongo Konyak have been charged under sections 120B, 121, 302 and 307 of IPC, Section 27(3) of the Arms Act, Section 7 of the Nagaland Security Regulation, 1962 and Sections 16, 18, 20 of UA(P) Act while Taiwang Konyak has been charged under sections 120B, 121, 302 and 307 of IPC, Section 27(3) of the Arms Act, Section 7 of the Nagaland Security Regulation, 1962 and Sections 16, 18, 20 and 38 of UA(P) Act.
The case pertains to an ambush upon 40 Assam Rifles by the NSCN (K-YA) on May 25, 2019 which resulted in the death of two Assam Rifles personnel and caused injuries to four others, the NIA stated in its press release which was made available on its official Twitter handle on Wednesday.
The case was initially registered at Tobu Police Station, Mon after which NIA had re-registered the case on December 21, 2019 and took over the investigation.
“The investigation of the case has established the involvement of the above charge sheeted four accused persons along with other NSCN (K-YA) cadres in the ambush on Assam Rifles,” the release informed.
Further investigation in the case continues, it added.
