Kohima, February 27 (MExN): The 43rd general conference of the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) was held at AGOK Badze, Meriema on February 27.
Addressing the gathering, speaker and peace activist and social reformer Niketu Iralu said that the Nagas are threatened with an immense crisis and must be prepared to respond to its size and complexity. He stated that the “crises confronting the people are local and regional manifestations of broader continental and global crises.”
He said that the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and its associated bodies, including AGOK, have moved beyond conventional discussions of issues and are evolving new thinking, plans and actions that society must understand, accept and collectively engage in to confront unprecedented challenges and enable progress. He advised members to recognise the signs of changing times and respond appropriately to rapid and uncontrollable changes.
President of the APO, Thejao Vihienuo Vihieno, in his address, acknowledged the organisation for working tirelessly and strategically for public welfare and for paving the way for the youth. He said that in a fast-changing society, environmental protection has become a priority and noted the emergence of the artificial intelligence and robotics era. He urged leaders and intellectuals to “guide and think about the future of the youth.”
Stating that children are the most priceless possession of society, he said AGOK, as an intellectual organisation among the Angamis, should guide, protect and encourage them. He added that AGOK is an important opinion-making and influential body and called for working in unison with the APO for the welfare of the people.
During the conference, General Secretary AGOK Nongozo Rikha presented a detailed report on activities undertaken from 2024 to 2026. General Secretary SAGOK and Convenor, Audit Committee, Medoseho Sothu presented the audit report.
The house resolved to retain the members of the previous tenure to continue for the period 2026 to 2028.
