Newmai News Network Imphal | November 25 Troops of Tamei Battalion while conducting surprise check of vehicles at village Wairangba Part II, Tamenglong district intercepted a white Mahindra Scorpio vehicle, Registration No MN-01-G-6531 and recovered 44 Lakhs in demonetised currency notes on November 24, according to PIB, Defence Wing. The demonetised currency notes were packed in a bag and kept in the vehicle. Two male persons and one female were detained. The PIB identified the three as Joyson Kamei – a resident of Nungba in Tamenglong district, Stephen Gangmei – a resident of Gaidimjang under Khoupam PS in Tamenglong district, and Romancy – a resident of Lairikyengbam Leikai in Imphal East. The detained persons along with the demonetised currency and vehicle were handed over to the Police.
