Morung Express News Dimapur | December 11 The 48-hour Karbi Anglong bandh demanding, among others, the creation of an autonomous state under Article 244 (A) of the Indian Constitution will start from 5:00 am on Wednesday, December 12. The Indigenous Tribe Protection of Karbi Anglong and the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao have called for the bandh. The demands being pursued through the bandh also include the creation of an autonomous state, demand for stopping the granting of Clause-8 of the BLT Accord and scrapping of the said Clause. Schools, colleges, university, water supply, medical and fire brigade services have been exempted from the purview of the bandh. Meanwhile, the bandh will be observed only for 24 hours in Dima Hasao. According to reports, this was decided during an emergency meeting of different students’ union today at Dimasa Students’ Union (DSU) office in Haflong. The bandh period was shortened keeping in mind the hardship faced by the general public, especially student’s community.
