Zunheboto, November 21 (MExN): The 4th edition of the Hezukhu Memorial Trophy kicked off today at the District Sports Council Ground Zunheboto with the Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and LMCP, K Tokugha Sukhalu as the special guest. The trophy is being organised by Zunheboto District Football Association.
Altogether nine teams are competing in the tournament scheduled November 21-27.
Speaking at the inaugural, Sukhalu called for commitment in sports along with good academic records in order to become a professional in the future.
He also regretted that there is increasing rate of school dropouts and unemployment amongst the youths in the State and called for focusing on skill development and entrepreneurship.
As per a DIPR report, the Advisor expressed concern over the rapid fire spread and use of abusive substances and alcohol in Zunheboto and advised the youths to abstain those habits if one wants to become sports professionals.
He also requested the GBs and elders especially the land owners present at the programme to come and work together if they want development to come to the district and if they want their children's to have a bright future land compensation issues often hampers developmental initiatives.
Sukhalualso requested the organisers to conduct Talent Hunt in sports sometimes and send the names to him so that he would try to do whatever possible to make them achieve their goals.
The inaugural also featured welcome note by Inoka Yeptho, President ZDFC and short speech by Kiyeka S Sumi, Vice President NFA and Member AIFF Grassroot development.
Following oath taking, the special guest declared the tournament open.
