DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 10 (MExN): Dimapur police on Sunday apprehended 5 miscreants from 5th Mile area and rescued an abducted driver and handyman of a truck. A press note from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed that the truck, while transporting essential goods from Assam to Manipur, was held up at gunpoint by the miscreants at Lahorijan and the driver and handyman were abducted for ransom.
A mobile patrol party intercepted the truck in Dimapur and the abductors were taken into custody. One 9 mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition were recovered. The arrested have been identified as Heka Chopy, Froz Ali, Rahul Ali, Bovi Zhimo and Hussain Ali. Police informed that a case of abduction for ransom along with offences under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused, who have been forwarded to court for remand.
