MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 25 (MExN): Mokokchung Police, on March 24, arrested five persons, for the abduction and murder of one Md Nazrul, proprietor of a pan shop, located at Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung. A press note from the Mokokchung SP informed that on March 24, the victim was abducted at around 2:30 pm from his residence at Penli Ward.
Subsequently, the DIB and Mokokchung police conducted a search operation and arrested five persons at 10:30 pm, the same day.

The arrested persons were identified as Arenkaba (25), Limasangba (48), Takutoshi (27), Nokzengtoshi (20) and a girl in her teens, whose name has been withheld.
Police ascertained that Arenkaba, Takutoshi, Nokzengtoshi and the unnamed teenager had committed the abduction because, according to them, the victim had allegedly “put a love charm in the pan which he then sold to the female teenager” on March 17. The accused alleged that this had “affected” the girl “mentally and physically.”
Police informed that the accused took the victim to Limasangba’s farm house, at Chungtia village area and was “physically assaulted with blunt objects.” He was then “forcibly” made to “sign a confession that he had put the love charm in the pan.” Later they took him to Limasangba’s house at Yimyu ward.
However, on arrival, the victim had already passed away. The accused then disposed the body some three to four kilometers in between Khensa and Chungtia villages.
A police search party combed that area and located the body at 8:45 AM on March 25. A case has been registered at Mokokchung Police Station I and post mortem of the body was conducted at IMDH Mokokchung. The body has been handed over to the relatives of the deceased and further investigation is in progress, informed police
Meanwhile the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries had written to the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, on Tuesday, demanding thorough investigation of the murder.
